I think many of us can think back and wonder how we survived the mistakes we made as teenagers. For most of us the mistakes didn't negatively affect our lives as adults, but for a Wisconsin woman, the bad decision she made as a teen has come back to haunt her. The woman was fired from her job because she had shoplifted 40 years ago. Her criminal act followed her all of these years and her employer, a bank, felt that this incident made her no longer eligible to keep her job.

Illinois man faces multiple drug charges
Some people feel that using drugs recreationally will not make them an addict, but more times than not, people do become addicted and behave in a way that is unlike them. People who get involved with drugs become so addicted that they'll do just about anything to get their next fix. This could be the case of a 35-year-old man who was found naked, bleeding and intoxicated last week in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Police were called to a scene with a report of a naked man covered in blood on Campbell Avenue and Center Street. When police arrived at the scene, an ambulance was called because the man needed medical attention. Investigators on the scene said that the man appeared to be under the influence of illegal narcotics and told officers he had been forced to fight with someone and that there was a person inside his house who had been murdered.
Could innocent people be sitting in Illinois prisons?
While everyone is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law, have you ever wondered how many people are convicted of a crime they didn't commit? It turns out there may be more than we think. Recently, federal prosecutors started looking into cases that led to convictions that had flawed forensic work.
It's been reported that the Justice Department may have known for year of the flawed forensic work that might have led to convictions of innocent people. Prosecutors did not notify all defendants or their attorneys even in the cases where they knew the evidence could be false.
Police check up on parolees, arrest three
In recent weeks, the Evanston, Illinois, made it a priority to contact parolees to make sure that they were complying with their release terms. The Illinois Department of Corrections and Evanston police contacted more than 32 parolees and only three were found in violation of the terms of their parole, which is great news that the amount of repeat offenders is trending downward.
Two parolees are now facing drug charges and the other parolee faces charges for impeding police. Two of the men were found in possession of two handguns with ammunition, approximately 15 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and a small amount of marijuana. The men who were on parole for drug and weapons offenses will now face new charges and have been remanded to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Illinois man convicted in domestic violence case that led to death
For a third party coming into a situation of domestic violence, it's hard to understand quickly what is going on and who is actually in potential danger. It's easy to assume that the man is at fault and many times they are, but in some instances, the woman can be just as threatening.
Cases of domestic violence usually stem from an unhealthy relationship, a recent break-up or even divorce. Whatever the cause, many cases can be deadly and that was the case for a 27-year-old Illinois man who was recently convicted of killing his girlfriend.

Southern Illinois man charged with domestic battery
A St. Clair County Sheriff said a 12-year-old boy has been placed in foster care after his step-father was charged with felony aggravated battery after allegedly forcing the child to do 1,000 pushups over a two-day period, and swallow a couple of screws. In addition to the felony aggravated battery, the step-father is charged with two counts of domestic battery and four counts of endangering the life of a child. He is being held in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of a $400,000 bond.
The boy was adopted by his mother five years ago and later married the boy's step-father. The boy was released from the hospital after being treated for the two screws that remain in his stomach.
Illinois man charged with drug possession
An Illinois man made a poor choice while on parole and is now facing possible drug charges. The man, 21, of Schaumburg, Illinois, was arrested last week for possession with the intent to deliver several different drugs including hydrocodone, cannabis and mushrooms.
The man was on parole for a 2009 burglary and the judge set his bail at $400,000 and he must post at least 10 percent of the bail in order to be released. In 2009 he was found guilty of forcing his way into the apartment of a man and stealing $1,500 and marijuana, while an accomplice held the victim at gunpoint. In exchange for his plea, the man received a five-year prison sentence with a recommendation to attend the Illinois Impact Incarceration Program, which is known as boot camp.
Two teens charged in sexual assault case
When a teenager drinks too much and is not in control of their actions, they can unknowingly put themselves into danger especially if they are left alone in a public place. This happened to an 18-year-old intoxicated woman on New Year's Eve when she was turned away from the Congress Theater in Illinois because she didn't have proper identification. She ended up collapsing in a restaurant entrance where two teenage boys brought her to their table. But instead of helping her, the two teenage boys have been charged as adults with aggravated criminal sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery.
According to investigators, the teenagers took the intoxicated woman on a walk where they fondled and raped her and took money from her purse. The woman was found later unconscious and bloody near the theater that she was trying to get into.
