Attorney John M. Delaney, Jr. began his legal career clerking for Judge Joseph Barr in the late 1970's. In 1981, he became assistant state attorney for Madison County, Illinois, working for the Madison County States Attorney until 1985. He gained a considerable amount of trial experience as an assistant state's attorney and an extensive understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the prosecution's case. John handled numerous complex felony cases, including 3 murder cases successfully prosecuted. Following that time, John was a Partner/Attorney in the former law firm of Smith, Allen, Mendenhall and Delaney, then located in Alton, Illinois, concentrating on Civil Litigation and Criminal Defense from 1985-1996.
